A spokesman of a militant group was shot dead in Camarines Sur province in Bicol, a radio report said Wednesday.

Radio dzXL said Bayan Muna spokesman Rodrigo de Torres was on his way home in Del Gallego town when at least seven unidentified armed men opened fire on him.

MANILA - Four suspected members of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) were captured in a military operation Saturday in Sorsogon province.

Lt. Col. Lito Sobejana, Army’s 3rd Scout Ranger Battalion commander, identified the alleged rebels as Beato Latosa, 35-year-old Amadeo Grayda of Juban town in Sorsogon, 38-year-old Nilo Escullar of Barcelona town and 18-year-old Ernesto Labadia of Bulan town.

Latosa is allegedly the assistant leader of Platoon Number 1 of the NPA and which allegedly operates in Magallanes town
